ACCOMPLISHMENT STARTS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY
In our childhood, mostly all of us have dreamt of doing something big and fathomable but didn’t have the courage to abide by it. But there are exceptional personalities out there who never gave up on their childhood dream. And one such story is of Mr. Yashal Shah, Managing partner at Nilamber Procare, who achieved his ambition just by connecting the dots. Mr. Shah used to work as a business consultant for almost 5 years but then he quit the job and got into a full-time job with Nilamber ProCare. Nilamber Procare was born with the objective, to provide cost-effective home maintenance solutions to the people who had difficulty finding domestic household service providers. Later on, two more verticals were added under this umbrella, which was facility management & property management services. Currently, they are providing 25 plus services from plumbing to cleaning and it’s incredible to acknowledge that now they have expanded their customer base from 70 calls to 1000 calls monthly, which has been a big jump.

Mr. Shah was working as a business consultant when he set up Nilamber ProCare in October 2018. It became difficult for him to manage the work along with the initiative. Anyhow, he handles both of them very graciously and allotted his time equally. He was the main person of the Nilamber ProCare, as well as the partner, two other people were also there who managed the sales, marketing, and accounts. Mr. Shah itself used to make creative pieces for marketing to get the customer base. They recruited their staff on a reference basis and started broadcasting their newly started endeavor, and finally, they got their first customer and had a profit of Rs 300. Nilamber ProCare, had call service instead of a digital platform so that people could easily reach out to them and avail the services. They believed that parent generation is quite not comfortable with the digital concept. So, it’s easy for them to make a call rather than a digital booking. Quite similar outlets in the market are there but Nilamber ProCare, was different not because it has the home maintenance spark but they managed to provide the service not only to the apartments but manages the societies as well, and recently they’ve collaborated with MyGate company which is an India-based security and community management app that helps residents and management committee in handling gate security. The collaboration will help Nilamber ProCare to provide service on a community basis. Mr. Shah has this unique way of coordinating with the staff where everybody gets a scorecard and the target is set. At the end of the day, every employee gets a score based on their performance which helps them to make the improvements.
COPING WITH THE PANDEMIC
Nilamber ProCare came up with the ‘Project Suraksha’ where they trained all their service providers about the safety measures that are necessary to be taken. They even provided them with the PPE kits, washable masks, sanitizers, and all other stuff to keep them as well as their customers safe. They even instructed them not to involve in the unnecessary exploration in the visiting house apart from the area that needs to be fixed. Exploring may cause harm to the service providers as well as the customers. Service providers of Nilamber ProCare also visit the GMERS hospital, Gotri periodically to get the fitness certificate which adds more value to their service.
INSIGHTS TO HIS THOUGHTS
Shah believes in the unique concept of ‘Business shower’, where relatives & friends of the person must provide him/her with the business assistance in any way. It can be broadcasting of their venture or get them the needful contacts or even provide them with the accessories or resources which they might need in the future instead of asking favors or discounts. He also follows this theory in his life and provides assistance or resources to those who have just started their new venture. He never considers anything in his life as a challenge or hardships because in his opinion, “challenges are the opportunities which give you the chance to rise and shine. If you start considering your venture as a baby of yours, it will never feel like you’re struggling with it. It will become a joyous feeling that one gets while uplifting their dream” and this quality of him ‘to conquer anything which comes in between’ attributes to his success.
FUTURE GOALS OF NILAMBER PRO CARE
Nilamber ProCare is planning to come up with a website that is rolling out next month. They will take their usual calls as well as order bookings from the website also, just for the ease and transferring of the customers. They are also targeting to achieve at least 1500 calls on the closing month by March 2021 and will try to upgrade their service count to near 100 service calls, which currently lies in between 80-90.
ADVICE TO THE BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS
Shah believes in executing the things which you have been looking for or are interested in exploring more of. “Research only works when you execute it and put it out in the public domain because I’ve seen people working hard but not having enough courage to implement it. They need to understand that the work supposed to get out, to get the results, and getting results is that where hard work pays off.” He also added, “don’t be afraid of sharing your idea with someone assuming that they might steal your idea. Ventures don’t work this way, you have to keep your mind open to gain the knowledge coming to you, and for that, you need to interact with the other venturers out there.”
